Maarten van Hinte is a Dutch-Surinamese actor, director, (theatre) writer and dramaturge. He started his career as a rapper in the Amsterdam hip-hop scene.
In the mid-1980s he joined the multicultural theater group De Nieuw Amsterdam (DNA). Here he started as an actor and then moved on to become a translator and director. In 2007 Maarten worked as a writer, director and coach of new generations of young makers who reflect the polyphony of the city.
With the Libretto for “How ANANSI Liberated the Stories of the World.” he makes his debut as a librettist of not only an opera but also a children's book.
